Spanish Moss cave is located in the City of Provo in Rock Canyon on the limestone strata. This cave is one of the more decorated caves in Utah with which has a gated entrance and around a 60ft rap to the sloping bottom entrance. 

 The slope continues down to the subway passage where the register is located and also where it gets slippery so a 200ft rope is good to have rigged from the top.

 The cave itself is around 600ft in length so it is not that long but it makes up for that length in the decorations and formations that color and drape the walls.

The hike to get up to the cave can be quite steep and would be a slight beat down session in the heat of the summer but once inside the cave, you would be cooled off and its a great place to escape the heat.

The entrance is gated so you must obtain a key in order to get access to the cave.

Inside the cave there is a pit entrance that corks around for around 80ft in depth and drops you off at the top of a 45 degree angled slope going down into the remainder of the cave.

The cave itself is highly decorated with lots of white calcite formations and anthrodite crystals in some of the corners of the formations which was impressive to see.

You can snake the rope down as far as your rope length will allow you which will give you some assist in reaching the formations due to the muddy and slippy nature of the cave slope.

The cave continues down to a stair step of formations and eventually brings you to the end where the register is located and where there is a lead that apparently stops after a short distance.

Across the valley and in higher elevation is red Baron cave which is another cave that is must visit if you are in the area as well .
