U-TURN CANYON

U-Turn Canyon, Arches National Park, Utah
Showing up at Arches National Park at around 8am was rather nice not only because it is a sunny cool morning day but the lack of tour buses backing up in the parking lots with people walking in every direction gawking at the mere sight of park avenue. Yes, it absolutely is a beautiful place but it was nice to have the place to myself for the first hour of being there.

This section of the park has some interestingly sculpted petrified sandstone slab rock where wind has carved it way through these buttes creating a hallway of towering spires and red rock canyons with smooth surfaces and varnished walls.

This particular section has three canyons that include, Tier-Drop, Not Tier-Drop, and U-turn canyons.  Last time I was here I pulled down Tier-Drop canyon so this time around I went after U-Turn Canyon.  This canyon was an easy 3AII and although it was an easy pulldown, the terrain is interesting and I think that the most jaded of canyoneers would find this and the other two canyons interesting and a great site seeing trip with dramatic views.

I do recommend this canyon as I would recommend tier drop and I will have to go back sometime soon and check out Not Tier Drop canyon.  it took around two hours with taking photos to complete this route so it is a good one to bag on the go.
