The Bright Angel trail on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon is one of the most popular hikes in the park and one of the most sought after hikes in the united states.

 People can do a day trip down to the river and back up, connect with the south kaibab trail, or do a rim to rim trip as a day trip.   We met a older couple doing the rim to rim as a day trip and he was 59 years old!

 You must obtain permits if you want to camp at Indian creek or any of the other campsites on the Bright Angel trail.  You want to start early on the bright angel as the summers are hot and the fall and spring can be cold with ice on the trail. Parking also becomes an issue if you show up past 6-7AM.

Canyoneers can also get Garden Creek Canyon and Pipe Creek canyon as either day trips without a permit or grabbing permits and staying at Indian creek campground.  There is also water available at 1.5 and 3 mile shelters, as well as, at Indian creek.
