The trail starts off somewhat steep and climbs above 10 thousand feet quickly to a point where you start to pass a few alpine lakes.

This is the highest point in the trail but with this gain you get some incredible views of the kearsarge lakes below. 

There were numerous lakes up in Kearsarge and we were able to score a beautiful lake front camp site for the stay in kearsarge pass. 

The lakes were so beautiful and the environment was just an incredible place to be encapsulated around a mountainous region of the sierras. 

There were some sections of snow that we had to work around but this didn't slow us down much at all yet made for some interesting variation within the hike.

 

The following day we went on a hike over to the the JMT to see if we were able to get some trail time and make it over to a pass but time was restrictive and we headed back to camp to strike camp and make our way back down the mountain.

 

Every day the snow appeared to be melting a bit more and more which was nice to see as the rivers were flowing with fresh water and made the landscape, alive.

 

Along the way back we took a high approach and got to witness some fantastic views of the valley floor

 

It is my understanding that this is some of the more scenic parts of the JMT and it was indeed breathtaking!

Eventually we made it back over the pass and down back to the car in some pretty good time.
