COBOLT CAVE, NEVADA

December 19, 2021

Cobolt cave is another newly discovered cave in Nevada. I named this cave because it has a cobalt look on the inside and it is an aid climb to get into the entrance of the cave.
The cave is less than 100 feet in length, but it has some interesting geological features inside.
The cave has some interesting corrosion residue on the walls and a lot of corrosion on the stone itself, there is apparent signs of pastime waterflow as well.
The fine dusty floor has a sulfur bitter smell and unfortunate taste in the mouth.
This makes me wonder if there was any influence by sulfuric acid.
The cave is basically a crawl around tight spaces that goes into a room that you can stoop walk.
There are some flowstone formations and interesting popcorn formations on the wall.
There are other short caves around in this area but nothing significant has opened up.
If there was some type of opening, I suspect that we would find a highly decorated cave if this sulfuric acid was able to be present as it is in a few other caves.

Continued exploration will happen, and I have a feeling we will find something significant soon.
