After our long technical descent of Middle Deer Creek, the following day we took a few hours to check out the non technical portion of  lower deer creek.

The technical portion of Lower Deer Creek is closed to all visitors but a hiking trail above deer creek is available to view the canyon from above and takes people down to the beach of the Colorado river and the last segment of lower deer creek, which is a beautiful waterfall.

The canyon was beautiful and the views were absolutely amazing! we hiked around the somewhat sketchy trail to the final overview of the Colorado river.

Mike and I stayed at the top of the view to take it all in as the rest of the group descended down to the bottom to check out the waterfall and hang out at the river for a bit.

After an hour or so we started to hike out and back to our campsite.

Walking back I could only imagine the beauty inside of this varnished, fluted, and strata lined canyon could be.

I was so grateful to have the opportunity to glimpse into the canyon to see the clear waters and the swirling passage.

This area is only around 10 minutes from the campsite so that made for a great morning hike to the canyon.

We now have almost 500ft of elevation to gain in 6-7 miles so we had to get to it and leave the area.

I am looking forward to coming back one day if the canyon does open back up for canyoneers.
