Pink Lime Pit, Utah |
Pink Lime Pit is a 60ft. hole on a ridge of rock located on a range west of Salt Lake City. The pit itself is said to have been an ancient volcanic fumarole or geyser and if the bottom material would be dug out than the pit will become considerable deeper.

I did not see any other pits in the area but I did see a contact layer of metamorphic rock stretching across the range so I am wondering if there are more of these dormant geothermal features in the region. I understand there are more caves including Blowhole cave which blows 70 degree air out all year round and is a multi drop but that is all I know about.

Further to the west is Monte Carlo and Windlass cave which are multi drops which are worth checking out as well.

When I was at the bottom of this cave I noticed multiple holes at the top which were near perfect circles as well as solutional formations including bacon drapery and a column located in the ceiling.

There was not much more to this pit other than that it is quite bolted and used as a place to practice vertical skills. There was an abundance of pigeons flying around and the shit smell was quite high which is something to be careful about so you don't catch a gem after being at the bottom.

Otherwise the pit was nice and I enjoyed visiting this geothermal feature.
