ZEBRA SLOT CANYON-HARRIS WASH-ESCALANTE

ZEBRA SLOT CANYON |
We started our hike early for zebra slot canyon and by the time we got there there were people already behind us and about 8 car loads of people in the parking lot.
ZEBRA SLOT CANYON |
The canyon itself was very short. I was expecting it to be longer than the description but for what
it lacked in distance it made up for in beauty
ZEBRA SLOT CANYON |
The stratified sandstone gave a clearly defined contour in-between the Navajo Sandstone which gave this slot a very unique "zebra like" look to it. As we made our climb up we came across a Pot Hole filled with water, the walls to the far side of this Pot hole looked climbable but very restrictive. Past these pot holes is the top, so knowing that the end is just past this pot hole and the beginning is just a stones throw away, we decided not to climb the pot hole and exit before the heard of people come and back up the entrance to the slot like waiting in line to see the next Harry Potter movie at the theater.
ZEBRA SLOT CANYON |
We decided to skip Tunnel Slot as the description explained this to be a short slot with water that you could see through and if it was shorter than zebra slot than I would rather get out to our next location and get set up before it was too late to find a tent....We are going to a very different kind of place, a place where there they have park brochures in more languages than a 'build your own desk' instruction guide, a place where your judged by how long your camera lens gets, a place where there are more tour buses than Lynyrd Skynyrd has been on.....Yup I'm talking about Bryce Canyon.
