TECHNICAL CANYON W/ ROCK ART FIGURINE, PETROGLYPHS
December 01, 2020
Early American history has fascinated me with how life conditions of the past binary from the times of modern day.
The lifestyle, resources, and means of communication were entirely different.
In some aspects, it’s almost unfathomable to imagine how modern day humans could have even lived in these environments that early Americans dealt with.
Canyoneering allows us relatively safe access to inaccessible envivromentd and places seldom seen by most people.
This absolute wealth of experience to access exotic and exclusive places can also allow canyoneers to visit location that haven’t been visited in thousands of years.
This particular canyon is no exception.
I have left some of the details out of where to locate this canyon but access to this canyon for canyoneers is indeed an option.
We got a early start up the mountain and made it to the drop in point in relatively good time.
The air was cold and the rocks were even cooler in the canyon as the sun stated to heat up the corridors.
We encountered numerous raps, all of
Which were not that long in length.
This canyon reminded me of cherry canyon in the virgin range.
We continued down the canyon and encountered a interesting drop through a keyhole into a nice narrow slot.
This is where the ancient Instagram newsfeed of the past begins.
Fascinating, etched in, figurines, of people, shapes, big horn sheep, and large animal / monster figurines appear.
It was quite amazing to see these panels on the wall!
What stories were they telling? What were they going through when they write these panels?
What are they actually saying?
Who are they for?
Why would they even write anything on the canyon walls ?
So many questions !
Back to reality, they are here and they are quite interesting.
Once we got down this drop we continued on down the canyon.
I wondered to myself if people were stopped at this point and if some indeed tried to climb up the slippery slipped wall.
Continuing to ponder the times of the past was fascinating as we descended down.
We headed down and noticed some
More figurines on the wall.
These were of shapes and big horn sheep
Continuing down we encountered down limbs and started to notice more panels on the walls!
The designs of snakes and other animals appeared.
We were amazed to see Just how many figurines and panels were encountered on the way down.
We continued to descend down and down climb more.
Rope was not needed as we can see, it is climb able from the ancient climbers.
We must have passed by over 8-10 panels with all types of interesting rock art figurines.
Usually we would see just a few panels in the desert but this was not letting up.
The rock art kept coming!
Such a beautiful place of American history and a very good reason why we should protect places.
It’s amazing to see where canyoneering takes us and how it helps access resources not available to most people.
I am looking forward to visiting kore of these canyons in the near future.
