LSA CANYON HIGH FLOW, CALIFORNIA
March 07, 2023
There is something about drinking out of garden hose that always made me smile.
I don't know if it was the lead, the rusty penny smell, or just that idea of something new, but I loved it.
Obviously, I can't say no to going back to a similar experience
with friends and wicked water levels.
I met up with some friends and we headed out to the top of this canyon drop in point.
spectators abound as we became the zoo animals, they hiked up to see.
We rolled up our thick wetsuit's gloves and neoprene socks
and anything else that would keep us warm.
heading down the watercourse the water is whipping around the bends and cut banks.
Some of the raps were in full water which was just like drinking from a super soaker 2000.
I could tell that this is not the canyons normal with all of the additional erosion on the walls.
We had a few occurrences where people got flipped upside down and desiring guided rappels to get across water.
We had a group of 10 in this canyon which was a rad gathering of
canyon freaks and wicked rope nerds.
This was rated as C4
Which is extreme for this canyon.
We even stuck a rope from the bottom!
The water pressure was fierce enough to push boulders over the rocks
and lodged 5 ft of rope in the bottom of the drop.
We all had a blast and I can't wait to get back out there.
