Charlies folly cave is a beautiful multi drop cave system located in the southwest desert of the Unites States.
The cave was found by Charlie Walsh who was a guy that enjoyed going into holes in the ground with out any ropes to climb around and see if he was able to accomplish that exact task.
It is our understanding that Charlie found this cave but it might have been found previously by other locals as we have found that locals appear to know about this cave and have gone into the cave somewhat recently.
This cave was discovered by cavers from California in the 70s and surveyed with a profile map of the cave.
The appears to reach down to a depth of 234 feet deep but the profile of the cave did not due justice to this system.
There was a nice trunk passage at the bottom of the 100ft sloping drop. this passage had a gallery in the back corner and also was quite large in size.
We were all really surprised to find this cave and even more surprised to realize how large the cave was at the bottom.
We also found another in cave pit that went down another 50ft and continued to drop some more as the depth was clocked for this cave.
We were all really impressed with how this cave looked from the inside.
Even the entrance pit is quite large in size and had old bolts that were stamped " lucky". .
We want to go back and ridge walk the region and create a plan for the map so it can be accurately depicted.
It is quite fascinating to re-discover this cave and I am so grateful for everyone who has helped look for this hole in the ground.
