Parunuweap canyon is a remote non technical slot canyon that few people seem to visit but has a lot of the luster that the traditional narrows have in the valley.

This canyon run east from Carmel Junction and meanders west towards the virgin River.

There is a intersting 29 mile trip that people can take from carmel junction and work down the canyon through mineral gulch narrows and pass through the corridors of Parunuweap canyon.

Another beautiful aspect of this canyon is that you will find very little people coming though here with the exception of the misery canyon canyoneers.  You can have the narrows to yourself.

Andy and I made it into the canyon VIA misery canyon and enjoyed the towering corridors for a couple hours before making the heat box hike back to the car.

This was Andy's first canyon and his first time seeing any kind of narrows like this so I am sure he enjoyed that a lot.

There is a waterfall pour over that looked interesting to push but it was my understanding that the canyon would start to open back up so we turned around and headed out.

There are some sections where it opens up a bit and you are in the sun and other sections where you can camp for the night which makes this hike a excellent place to get a way from the crowds.

There are also some hot springs down the canyon and I thought I could feel the main stream get warmer and cooler at points.

One day I will like to return to this hike and make the full down and back trip.
