KOLOB CANYON. ZION NATIONAL PARK, UTAH

September 12, 2021

Descending kolob canyon is quite the enchanting place to visit.

Kolob Canyon is a Zion classic that has some excellent rappels with flowing water.

Usually, you will find some flowing water in this canyon but on our visit, there was no flow.

There is a gage station that releases water from time to time but with this years low rain collection, I anticipated that they wouldn't have much flow.

We did encounter pools of water that we had to swim through but overall the canyon was pretty dry.

You will encounter over 10 raps which are in the water course if you are able to catch the canyon in flowing water conditions.

Stunning views and excellent raps make this canyon a must do on your zion canyoneering trip.

Expect a full day when you enter into Kolob.

You must also contact the church to gain access to hike out the MIA trail.

You must call the gage station to see if they are going to release a large amount of water before entering this canyon.

Make sure you read the beta before entering this canyon as there are activities to consider.
