THE DISCOVERY AND SURVEY OF CHARYBDIS CAVE

November 14, 2022

With some interesting access and a massive entrance, Charybdis cave is a newly discovered cave within the encapsulating limestone walls.

This is a hole that could be seen from certain angles but access to get into the cave has not happened until this time.

We were not sure if this lead would go but once I got halfway down the final pitch, I could see that there was a cave.

It was a massive entrance with a large room!

Walking back into the cave there were beautiful calcite formations on the walls and in the corner.

There was also this large guano pile and the cave ended.

We checked some high leads and those ended as well.

We were able to get a survey of around 450 ft

Next time we will be checking the lead on the other side of the mountain. The holes line up.
