After our run in Not Imlay canyon the previous day, we headed out east to check out a nice non technical slot canyon in the desert near kanab.

We headed out down the road which was a walk in the sand for a couple miles until we took a side road that led us closer to the wash and the entrance of peekaboo canyon.

Once we got to the head of the canyon, we were met by a few people that drove 4x4 jeeps to the head in the sand and they were just leaving, so we had the canyon to ourselves.

We went through the series of slots which had a fantastic color of red and bright orange coming through the top.

We snapped a few photos and worked our way up to a 20ft dry fall where we had to chimney up.

James climbed up this route and we made a hand line for everyone else to get up so we could work our way to the top with out any incident.

we continued up and out of the canyon which was a great walk through some beautiful southwest desert canyon.

We could not have asked for a better day as the breeze was cool and the sun was shining with a warming radiance.

It is interesting to see all of the back country lands and the number of slot canyons that might be back there.

This particular canyon is really hard to spot until you are in the drainage so I bet that there are plenty more out there in the desert.

When we did enter the canyon, we did see the damage from a 4x4 truck that attempted to climb one of the side walls and left tire marks on the wall itself.

This is something that can come with the awareness of where canyons and caves exist.

I can hope that we can all do our part to preserve these amazing places for generations of people to enjoy.
